About this course
American Music Forms Memories (AMFM) is Michael Feinstein’s artistic‑scientific platform that uses music as a practical tool for memory, emotional clarity, and human connection. CommHIT’s short training prepares care teams to integrate AMFM into care-at-home and other settings appropriately.
The training focuses on two core skills: intake and sharing. Trainees learn how to gather a person’s meaningful music through a simple, conversational intake—capturing the songs, artists, and sounds tied to their history, identity, and emotional grounding. They also learn how to recognize “memory‑rich moments” where sharing that music can strengthen rapport, reduce anxiety, or support connection.
The training introduces the basic neuroscience behind why music triggers autobiographical memory and supports calm, focus, and connection. CommHIT provides lightweight prompts, documentation cues, and integration steps so teams can use AMFM with clarity and confidence.
After this training, you’ll be able to deliver AMFM in a way that is intentional, person‑centered, and impactful for patients and their loved ones.
