OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Network

CommHIT is one of the official partners in the OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Network (OneFlorida+) that is led by the University of Florida (UF). OneFlorida+ is one of the nation’s 13 clinical data research networks designated by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). This “network of networks” is designed to accelerate the translation of promising research findings into improved patient access and care (

The centerpiece of OneFlorida+ is its Data Trust, a repository of statewide healthcare data that is regularly updated with the inclusion of data from newly participating medical providers and data refreshes from existing partners. All data are cleaned, transformed, curated and contained in a centralized data warehouse, allowing streamlined inquiries and uniform results based on high-quality data. Legal agreements for data use and use of OneFlorida+’s centralized IRB have already been negotiated with all partners, reducing paperwork and administrative burden. The Data Trust contains claims and encounter data for Floridians enrolled in Medicaid and robust patient-level electronic health record data from public and private health systems, including diagnoses, procedures, medications, patient demographics, and other data elements. In total, the Data Trust currently houses data for approximately 17 million Floridians.

CommHIT is the OneFlorida+ Partner appointed to help community and rural hospitals and physician practices securely send data to the OneFlorida+ Data Trust; these are the medical facilities that need the most help as they have the fewest resources (human and financial) for technology and digital security.
